If you didn’t already know, I manage a lot of properties in and around Newport, Rhode Island; between my partner and I, we manage close to 200 properties. With that experience, we’ve learned a lot of things that help us keep the homes running without many big problems popping up. One of the things we make sure to do every spring is service every boiler in our properties: wall-hung boilers, oil furnaces, gas furnaces, you name it!
Why do we take the time to do this in the spring? Here are a couple of reasons:
1. It’s easier to get a technician in the spring. By the time spring rolls around, the late winter/early spring rush is over, meaning that many technicians now have room on their calendars. And even if they don’t, it doesn’t matter as much since you’ll have time to wait.
2. It’s important to establish a relationship with a vendor you work with regularly. That way, when you need them, you can call and they’ll open up their records to find that you’re already a customer of theirs, which will make you a priority for them.
