One of the big pieces of news that have emerged during this pandemic is how many people are working remotely. Twitter recently said that all of their employees can work remotely full-time forever. If you’re in a similar place in your life, you can pretty much live anywhere. One of the things many analysts are saying is that more and more people are moving away from large cities.
Here in Rhode Island, the big cities around here are Philly, New York, and Boston. For the past three decades, more and more people had been moving to cities like these. Today, people are moving back to the suburbs.

More and more workplaces were trending toward remote environments before the pandemic started, and this situation has only accelerated it. We’re all using Zoom, Skype, etc., to stay in touch. In a Harris poll from April 26, they found that 46% of city dwellers were considering a move because of the advent of remote work.
We’ve been getting a lot of calls lately from people in these cities that are looking to move here to Rhode Island. This makes now a surprisingly good time to sell. We continue to have low inventory, and demand is only going to increase if this trend of moving out of cities continues.
